In the 1990s, "Japanimation" was still a mystery to the West. But then came Tenchi and his ensemble of beautiful alien girls...and animation was never the same. "Anime" had found its proper name thanks to this singular, dynamic franchise. Indeed, the Tenchi Saga offered action, drama, humor - everything. And yet, within a decade, it had vanished from the zeitgeist with nary a lament, even a mention...a savior forsaken and reduced to mist.
Years later, the property deserves another look...to be remembered, honored, and celebrated once again. For it was Tenchi that won Japanese animation its relevancy. Or rather, the hearts of the Western World.
